Photoshoot planning - Ancillary Task

What emotional impact do you want your photography to have on the reader?
I want my model either smiling or doing an invitational facial expression which I'm hoping entices the audience and makes them feel connected to my model. To do this I want to capture close-ups and medium shots which will hopefully show the models emotion as well.

Who are you going to photograph?
I am going to photograph 3 of my friends who I've already got permission to do so. I will be photographing my friends Rebecca, Amber and Caitlyn as they're very feminine which fit in perfectly with the genre I have chosen (fashion). I have completed a reader profile which I will link below to direct you to that.

What props will you need?
I will need props such as fashionable clothing/coats, make-up and perfume to keep the genre of 'fashion' occuring so it's clear to my audience. I have the majority of these props, however, any I do not have, I will ask my models to provide them for me. I don't aim to use too many props as I want to focus on the emotions and expressions of my model's instead. However, props will be a good idea because I am trying to keep with my genre of 'fashion' and props are usually used a lot in fashion.

How are you going to emphasise colour?
I am going to emphasise colour by putting my model's in ranges of pink, black and grey clothing to show the feminine side of my genre. I think these colours would be important to show on my models as I think it would be a good way of attracting my chosen target audience as well. I will put my model's in pink/red lipstick as well so that I can keep a house-style throughout. I will emphasise these colours by putting them against a neutral coloured background such as a white wall, or outside in nature where everything's green as I think the colour will be emphasised beautifully.

What lighting will you need? Any other equipment?
I will need natural lighting when I photograph my models outside to show exactly what outfits and make-up have been used. Since I'm focussing on 'fashion' it's important I show the reader each outfit that has been used so I need as much natural lighting as possible.

Where will you shoot? Will you need a backdrop?
I will be shooting my images both outside in nature and in my house. I will not need a backdrop as I will be shooting my images in front of a white wall anyway, and for outside I will be taking advantage of the nature (flowers and plants) and I will be using that as a background for my images.

Make-up? Costume?
I will be doing my model's make-up to match the make-up in my make-up inspirations (which is on my blog). I will also be wanting them to wear any fashionable clothing they have as I'm doing 'fashion' and need to be up to date with the latest fashion trends.

  1. This sounds like this planning is for your main task - not your ancillary task ??
