Flatplan - Contents page

Magazine contents page Rationale:

Colour use: I want to maintain a house-style I used for my front cover so I will be using the same colours on my contents page as well. For the features and page numbers I aim to use the colour black for my text to keep it neutral and professional looking. For the advertisements I aim to add more colours like pink to ensure my magazine looks professional and to keep that house-style flowing. For the text next to the images I aim to use the colour white or black so it's visible against any background.

Image use: I took inspiration from cosmopolitan's contents page when making this flat plan as I really liked how the text was in the bottom right corner and the images were dotted around the middle and left hand side. I have chosen to place my images in a similar place to this because it looks very professional and sophisticated. I also had my audience in mind when creating this as I need to entice them to want to read my magazine, that's why included just as many images as I have text.

Text use and font: I aim to keep the features and page numbers text plain and simple to read, I will also use the same font as I used on the front cover for certain cover lines so that it ensures my magazine is not only easy to read but also looks professional. For the advertisements I aim to use slightly more exciting font so that the features and page numbers don't blend with them. I want them to stand out, but not too much that it takes too much focus off the features and page numbers. I will keep the text in the features and page numbers quite small, and I will make the subheadings bold so that it separates text. This will make it look ordered and professional.

Layout: I tried to make the layout follow simple conventions so that it's easy to follow and not too complicated. I included my masthead on the contents page because I noticed that's what quite a few conventional magazines do and I really liked the idea of keeping my magazine name on the contents page. It's kind of a way to put my mark on the whole magazine and to show that I made it.
